BAE Systems is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Senior Systems Engineer to work on a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile, fast-paced development environment. The qualified candidate will support the development and implementation of a back-end mission-focused software application in addition to a couple other software applications.

Assigned tasks may include analysis of needs, the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), working with customers and other team members, integration testing of several software baselines, technical documentation including User Guides, sprint planning, customer engagement, close interaction with software and system test engineers on the team to achieve program objectives. Perform analysis and tasks at concurrent stages to include technical planning, system design, software implementation, system integration, testing, verification, and validation.

Flexibility in approach to finding solutions, the ability to understand and act on the customer needs and priorities, and learn new technologies quickly are some of the qualities a successful candidate will have.

Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needsManage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades and patchesCreate and modify scripts or applications to perform tasksProvide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environmentCollaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Must have a Top Secret / SCI security clearanceTypically, a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or information technology Understanding of User Interface design and development practicesExperience working with customers and end users in the DoD and/or Intelligence CommunityKnowledge of open, standards-based architectures, interfaces, and geospatial dataExperience with system integration and test on a UNIX or Linux platformShell, Perl, and/or Python scriptingAbility to use verbal and written communication skills to present information to a diverse population (technical and non-technical) Ability to work well as a member of a team and independentlyStrong problem solving and communication skillsAbility to arrange things or actions in an order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of dependencies

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering/technical discipline, and 8+ years related experience or equivalent experience, training and/or certificationsProficient in requirements identification, analysis, documentation, and trackingProficient analyzing customer needs, and identifying user stories and technical tasks to achieve various Agile objectives and iterative development schedulesProficient in statistical analysis methods and toolsExperience with Agile management tools (e.g., Jira, etc.)Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Git, etc.)In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHatFamiliarity with VMWare and virtualization conceptsTeam player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environmentMotivated self-starter with good problem-solving skills, judgment, and analytical capabilityAbility to develop improved methods to increase program efficiencyDemonstrated leadership skills (supervisory experience, building teams, mentoring, building customer relationships)Ability to negotiate effectively with higher level managers, functional managers, customers, industry partners, and teammatesStrong oral and written communications skillsGood planning and organizational skills

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $126610 - $215270

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
