SQL Database Administrator

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a database administrator who has a passion for solving challenging and complex problems. The candidate will work in a team environment monitoring and tuning databases focusing on SQL Server. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTrace application sessions for performance problems, recognizing problematic SQL statementsTune SQL statementsCollaborate closely with the architecture, leadership, and client supportCreate, export, import, and backup relational databasesWork directly with engineering teams guiding queries and database interactionsChampion SQL and database best practicesBuild process for application version upgrade scriptsRead and understand PL/SQL or Transact SQL stored procedures across a large-scale enterprise-level databaseReview development scripts for conformance to established standardsDetect performance problems using tooling, scripts, and testingTroubleshoot and provide clear explanations of data layer performance problems Skills & RequirementsEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field. Two (2) to four (4) years of experience with relational databases, either at the SQL or service management level. Healthcare data experience is preferredExperience with relational database conceptsExperience working on production systems. Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesProficient with Microsoft SQL ServerPL/SQL or Transact-SQL programming; experience with Postgres and Amazon Aurora is a plusFamiliarity with database performance analyzersUnderstanding of Disk Storage Management TechniquesOutstanding communications and interpersonal skills, experience working in a global team preferredStrong problem-solving skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to create technical documentationAbility to work issues to successful resolutionWork Environment/Physical DemandsWhile at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workdayThis role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard for the majority of the workdayHybrid position. Must work on-site three (3) days per week as scheduled by the company This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devicesThe role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
