Company DescriptionChicago CRED (Creating Real Economic Destiny) is an organization founded by Emerson Collective and Laurene Powell Jobs, along with former U.S. Education Secretary and Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan. Chicago CRED aims to end gun violence by providing job opportunities in the legal economy to men at risk of being involved in shootings. Their ultimate goal is to create a safer and more prosperous community. Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for a Makerspace Instructor at Chicago CRED in Chicago, IL. The Makerspace Instructor will be responsible for teaching and guiding individuals in various skills such as woodworking, metalworking, electronics, and design. The instructor will also create and deliver educational programs, maintain equipment and materials, and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for participants. QualificationsExperience in teaching or instructing individuals in a makerspace or similar environmentProficiency in woodworking, metalworking, electronics, or other relevant skillsAbility to create and deliver educational programsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of safety protocols and ability to maintain a safe working environmentPassion for community development and a commitment to reducing gun violenceExperience working with individuals from diverse backgroundsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasksCreative problem-solving abilitiesBachelor's Degree in Related Field or 5+ years of Work Experience
