The Reliability Engineer will be directly involved in the overall evaluation of Generac Power Systems products. This engineer will be responsible for creating and monitoring the validation plan for these products. This person is expected to drive component and system level testing to evaluate design robustness and reliability. This role will be responsible for evaluating equipment failure modes and utilizing engineering experience and training to develop solutions for eliminating potential failures.

• Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Drive cross functional teams to achieve Generac’s high product performance and reliability standards throughout the Generac Development Process (GDP).
• Evaluate product failure modes and utilize engineering experience and training to develop solutions for eliminating/mitigating potential failure modesFacilitate the DFMEA and design review process to develop strong validation plans that assure customer and design functional requirements have been metAdvise and confer with engineers in design review meetings to give reliability findings and design recommendationsReview engineering specifications/drawings and propose design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirementsMonitor product performance and evaluate product history and failure trends to determine sources of poor component performanceGain a deep understanding of the operating environment and performance requirements for our products.
• Create detailed reports (DVPR) documenting all findings and conclusions.
• Support root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing and on returned products from the field

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering2 years of reliability engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in Engineering

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Knowledge and experience testing electrical and mechanical systems for reliability. Experience with reliability fail modes and fail mechanisms with respect to reliability. Very good understanding of relevant test standards. Ability to apply engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services, and processes. Ability to solve complex engineering problems. Statistical analysis knowledge to assess reliability risk based on design and application. Excellent oral and written communication. Strong decision-making skills.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
