HelloFresh is in search of an organized and detail-oriented Editor to join our growing Editorial Team. The ideal candidate should have excellent recipe editing, food writing, grammar, and proofreading skills. We are a fast-moving team with a focus on producing precise, engaging, educational content.

The Editor, reporting to the Senior Editor, is responsible for a broad range of tasks and responsibilities, which typically span multiple positions within the editorial structure of a more traditional publication team. Editors are continuously collaborating with the culinary team, nutrition team, photo team, product operations team, menu planning team, and project management team, as well as our team of editors, proofreaders, and production designers to produce over 100 recipe cards and meal stories every week across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands.

The ideal candidate should have an intimate understanding of culinary arts as it relates to recipe writing and food media, with the ability to meet tight deadlines while also maintaining great flexibility when necessary. You enjoy collaborating with co-workers across multiple departments, and know how to facilitate a constant stream of communication. You will …

Collaborate with other Editors on the team to produce over 100 recipe cards every week and contribute editorial web support across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands, aligning to a stringent recipe style for each recipe brand through pre-determined, culinary-approved recipe instructions. Content edit and review ~25 recipes per week at various editorial checkpoints, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy among recipes. This includes:Completing a style edit to ensure a consistent voice and style throughout every recipeEditing recipes for flowFact-checking instructions for accuracyCollaborating with the culinary team to make any necessary culinary- or editorial-driven changes to the recipesReviewing recipe titles, descriptions, ingredient names, and instructions to ensure they align with brand-specific tone and style guidelinesFormatting recipe documents to ensure they’re compatible with DocsFlowCopywriting to include:Writing recipe card and web descriptionsCreating recipe titles and subtitlesMeet deadlines across all projects and tasksEnsure quality control of recipe cards, to include photography, ingredients, steps, and requested changes are accounted forContribute to editorial efforts on specialty projectsAssist with onboarding and training of new team membersIdentify opportunities for more effective workflows and resources

You have…

3-5 years experience in recipe editing, writing, and content creation–a background in food media and/or meal kit companies is a plus and a culinary degree is an added bonusA Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or a Communications-related fieldA passion for the culinary world, with a vast knowledge of techniques and ingredients—you find yourself reading cookbooks in your spare time and scouring social media for the latest culinary trendsAn impeccable eye for detail and nuanceA knack for figuring out how to explain the most advanced of culinary methods to novice home cooksProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, and project management software (we use Wrike)Skilled in copy editing, proofreading, AP style, and ensuring adherence to style guidesExperience assessing photography for culinary accuracy Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsSuperb organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and timelines at once
