Your RoleYou will be responsible for on-site physical installation, implementation, and configuration of Ciena Optical Transport product family. Experience with OTN, troubleshooting, technical writing, test plans, EMOPs/Alt. Vendor experience a Plus - (Nokia/ALU, Infinera, Cisco)

Your Responsibilities

Work closely with Ciena Program/Project Managers, Ciena Lead Engineers, as well as Ciena Account team, on-site customers and other stakeholders; understand customer’s needs and how we can best support their network architecture as the on-site, hands-on Ciena SMEStrong understanding of SONET, DWDM, ROADM (and other (n)OADM configurations), OTN, architecture and provisioning and implementationFollow test plans for customer network architecture, interoperability, ensure the functionality and security of equipment, ensure equipment configurations are in place and working optimally as per designFollow implementation plans provided by Ciena Sales Engineers and provide engineering support in the deployment of customer network the proposed enhancements and modifications to include Layer-0, Layer-1 and Layer-2 process and configurations. Ability to work on-site in customer environment. Read/follow network diagrams, cabling guides, signal flow diagrams. To Include, manual manipulation and installation of varying Ciena products from SFP/XFP’s (Pluggable) and occasionally to shelves (Up to 75lbs). Manipulate fiber optic patches (Clean, Run, Replace, trace out/red light patches) Ability to follow technical documentation, present and coherently relay to customer the information within. To include network diagrams, Signal flow diagrams, detailed equipment specifications Ability to assist customer troubleshooting, installation, and implementation with field deployment efforts Provide weekly updates to varying internal and external contract stakeholders. To include, customer, Ciena PM’s/Engineers. Ability to learn new technology, apply and share applicable knowledge to customer, stakeholders, and peers.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of direct experience Security Clearance is requiredKnowledge and experience with Layer-0, Layer-1, Familiarization with fiber optics to include ISP (patches and connectors) and OSP (fiber characterization and OTDR familiarity) BS degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or similar technical field of study (Experience in related field in lieu of Degree (Min 5 years Exp in direct field)Direct Hands-on installation experience Familiarity with power installation (Certification a plus)Candidate will have a diverse Telecommunications background, strong hands-on technical experience, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Team orientation, organized, and capable of independent work. Willingness to assist team members with other projects as required.
