Linux System Administrator

This position will maintain, upgrade, and provide support for the Institute’s back-end systems and networks. The Linux System Administrator needs to be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly, should be able to communicate technical concerns and solutions to many different people with varying degrees of technical knowledge as well as work with individuals in all departments to help solve their technical issues. He/she needs to be able to lead IT projects from inception to completion with little supervision. This position will serve as a mentor to junior system administrators and there will be infrequent Helpdesk tasks as needed. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering Advanced knowledge on Linux system administrationAbility to effectively communicate and translate requirements into concrete tasksTechnical writing to building engineering guides and general how-to articlesAdvanced troubleshooting skills, must be an excellent troubleshooter in a complex and heterogeneous environmentEffective and clear written and verbal communication skills. Capacity to work with a wide variety of technical issues, solve day-to-day technical escalated helpdesk ticketsAbility to work within a team environment. Self-starter with the initiative and ability to complete tasks under minimal supervision. Ability to multitask. Preferred Experience and skills:Five (5) + years Linux advance level administration experienceWorking knowledge of Cloud services, Azure, AWS, GCP, MS IntuneEnterprise storage management experience (NetApp, EMC, Tegile)Compliance and Governance understanding (PCI, PII, HIPAA, DFARS)Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks. Familiarity with Security Assessment Tools and Security Frameworks (NIST, ISO, NMAP, Nessus, Rapid7)VMware ESX administration experienceBackup system architectures and management – Commvault experience preferableWorking experience supporting LAMP, confluence, Jira, trac, SVN, GIT, JAMF, ZendeskExperience in architecting and supporting HPC system - SLURM

Compensation: $65/hr to $72/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
