Job Summary

InterDigital’s Conshohoken AI Lab is looking for a Ph. D. student for an internship applying AI/ML to Wireless Communications to improve wireless system performance or to build a customized Large Language Model using Retrieval Augmented Generator for wireless engineering purposes.

The AI Lab works on novel applications of AI and ML for video and wireless applications. You will develop proof-of-concepts, prototypes and research ideas that tie machine learning and AI technologies with a broad range of signal processing and wireless technologies and will publish your work in leading conferences.

Building a Large wireless system simulation model which can operate across multiple GPUs using Tensorflow/KerasDeep learning for signal processing and wireless communications. Research, design, build and test ML algorithms that will be at the core of future wireless communication systems. Measure, analyse, model, and build datasets of wireless channels using ray tracing and AI/ML techniques for various operational scenarios.

Wireless research areas that we are actively exploring

Customization of Large Language Models using Retrieval Augmented Generator for wireless engineering use cases. Use of differential ray-tracing ML techniques to calibrate a simulated channel model against over the air measurements. Deep learning for channel modelling and feedback. Hardware and energy efficient architectures for real time inference. Optimization algorithms for beamforming and beam management. Deep learning based end-to-end wireless communication. Online learning in dynamic wireless systems.

Qualifications

Ph. D. student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or relevant discipline. Publications or research and development experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, deep learning, data mining, optimization. Strong background in wireless communication is highly desired. Hands on experience with python and MatLab and ML frameworks such as Tensorflow or Pytorch.
