About the Facility:We're a prestigious private club located in an historic building in midtown Manhattan and seeking an exceptional Executive Sous Chef to join our team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this is a hands-on leadership role where you'll play a vital part in maintaining our high culinary standards and fostering a positive kitchen culture. You’ll focus on formal dining, serving a sophisticated membership in an elegant atmosphere.
Responsibilities:Oversee all aspects of the kitchen operation during service, including scheduling, training, inventory management and performance of cooks and porters. Lead by example, working the line alongside the team to ensure high quality and consistent food production. Maintain the highest quality standards in food preparation, presentation, cleanliness and organization according to DOH requirements. Focus on individual member preferences while delivering the highest levels of hospitality the club is accustomed to. Conduct regular inventory control and ensure proper food safety protocols. Foster a positive and professional work environment built on mutual respect and teamwork.
Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in a similar environment. Proven track record of success in leading and motivating a team. Exceptional culinary skills with a strong understanding of cooking techniques and menu development. Ability to minimize waste and maximize product. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Patience, a calm demeanor, and the ability to handle pressure effectively and motivate staff in a positive, constructive manner. Experience working in a union environment is a strong plus.
Compensation & Benefits:Competitive salary in the range of $70,000 - $100,000/ year (commensurate with experience). We are open to discussing this range further based on qualifications. Consistent work schedule: 10-hour days, 5 days a week with weekends off. Fully paid healthcare plan. PTO: vacation, paid holidays, personal and sick days401k plan
Physical Demands and Work Environment:Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend stretch and twist or reach. Be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds. Continuous repetitive motions. Work in a hot, humid and noisy environment.
