Job Title: Senior Spring Java Developer Duration: 18 months Contract to startLocation: Hybrid setup initially – Owatana, MN Job Description:Our client is transitioning from a legacy mainframe COBOL environment to a modern distributed Java environment. This role involves converting, designing, and developing batch processes using clients implementation of the Spring Java Framework. Job-Specific Major Activities (Essential Functions) 1 Writes routine and complex programs using Spring Java framework to convert existing batch processes. Translates requirements into program specifications and solutions.2 Create, adapt, and modify programs to meet evolving needs and requirements. 3 Design and execute test cases, cycles, and scripts for specific tests, including unit, system, regression, acceptance, performance, and capacity tests.4 Utilize problem-solving techniques to gather requirements and diagnose system issues effectively.5 Work independently on assigned systems and roles, using appropriate skills and tools. Identify trends and new skills to define innovative processes and solutions that meet the future demands of the team and business partners.6 Adhere to best practices, provide accurate estimates, and deliver high-quality outputs in line with the company’s design patterns, team processes, department standards, and policies.7 Respond to both routine and complex customer needs promptly and in accordance with standards and service level agreements.8 Collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders (including those beyond the team and/or department) about progress and issues related to assigned systems.9 Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the insurance business to identify innovative tactical and strategic opportunities and implement solutions that enhance systems, processes, and services for business partners. Minimum Position RequirementsExperience• At least 3 years of professional experience with the Java Spring framework (transactional and batch). Technical Skills• Exceptional design and development skills, particularly in the Java environment. • Strong background with SQL, specifically DB2 database experience would be helpful. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
