Job Description
Gather necessary design requirements and specifications from internal and external customers, and record using the technical assumptions, requirements and specifications (TARS) process. Execute the Component Engineering deliverables (e.g. concepts, CAD models, drawings, engineering analysis, engineering documents, etc.) at the direction of the project lead engineer; ensure assignments are completed on-time and meet or exceed internal and external customer performance expectations. Create issues to communicate work assignments and document issue resolution and closure in the Change Engine database. Coordinate and/or support all necessary internal, customer and supplier meetings, including technical reviews, cross functional team (CFT), packaging, DFMEA, quality, change control, program management team (PMT), builds, teardowns, etc. Obtain necessary customer part numbers and engineering change notices from Program Management. In addition, obtain the necessary customer approvals on the various engineering documents (e.g. drawings, DVP&R, etc.). Benchmarking competitor technology specifically related to electrical distribution centers, connectors, and terminals. Provide CAD and Engineering support to fellow associates when required. Abide by all policies regarding EEO, Safety and Quality.
EDUCATION
Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in related field. Minimum of 3 years automotive experience in product design, manufacturing or quality with strong understanding of automotive components. Two to three years experience with injection molded and/or stamped component design, including the application of GD&T and tolerance stack up calculations. Minimum (3) years of working experience with either Pro/Engineer, Catia, NX or other similar 3D CAD software.
Preferred
Experience with the Power Distribution Center (PDC) design and development. Experience with automotive connector and terminal systems design and development.
SKILL
Ability to facilitate cross-functional teams to achieve objectives. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with high quality and on-time completion. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Working knowledge of design and engineering disciplines (8D, DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.).
