Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer Job Summary

POWER Engineers is seeking an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Denver office located in Lakewood, Colorado.

Responsibilities

The Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its goals, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.

Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to:One-line diagramsSchematicsWiring diagramsSCADACommunicationsStation physical layoutsSections/ElevationsCable and conduit plans and detailsGround grid design and detailsFoundation plans and detailsStructural plans and detailsControl enclosure design and detailsLightning protection plansYard lighting plansBills of MaterialsSite visits Support QA/QC for deliverables to clientsShall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designsOccasional travel Required Education/Experience

BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power optionStrong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build onThe candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelCandidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship

Desired Education/Experience

At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basisMinimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation designEngineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $70k-$74k per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
