Database Engineering Manager
A leading global asset management firm is seeking a new Database Platform Manager to lead a global team of DB Engineers, develop strategy and best practices, and get hands-on with solution development and DB maintenance.
Responsibilities:· Lead a global team of Database Platform Engineers· Communicate with stakeholders to develop an understanding of their needs· Develop database strategy· Develop and evangelize best practices for database development· Develop reporting strategy and solutions for desktop and mobile· Deploy and manage enterprise database platforms, both on-premise and in the cloud· Ensure the reliability and security of the firm’s databases· Troubleshoot performance and data availability issues· Engineer automation solutions· Perform database maintenance, monitoring, and backups
Requirements:· 3+ years of experience managing a team of database engineers· 5+ years of hands-on experience managing medium/large enterprise database platforms· Expert knowledge of SQL Server· Strong knowledge of cloud database solutions (E.g. Aurora, DynamoDB, RedShift)· Strong knowledge of open-source database solutions (PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB)· Strong knowledge of data modeling· Strong knowledge of reporting strategies and solutions (SSRS, Power BI, and Tableau)· Strong experience with Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages· Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Git· Knowledge of Agile development practices· Operational knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration· Experience with CI/CD platforms and automation of SDLC processes
