The position will be based in the California Central Valley and will require travel primarily throughout the West Coast with the potential of managing projects throughout the U.S.

Brief Job Description

The expectation of our project managers is to plan and supervise a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. Organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Coordinating a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. Utilizing analytical and organizational skills with the goal of ensuring all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

Conduct all communication with customers, vendors, and team members in a professional manner. Regularly contact clients, anticipate their needs, and offer a superior level of customer service.

The ideal applicant will be highly organized, with the ability to plan ahead and multitask in order to meet deadlines and keep projects under budget.

Responsibilities

Bid walks and ability to plan/define scope for estimating. Bid review and assist in finalizing proposalsConduct project kick off meetingsManage project financials, managing schedule of values and communicating billing needsWork with several level of resource requirements to meet project needs including, estimating, engineering, logistical support, shop fabrication, and accounting. Oversee construction projects from beginning to endManage the budget and estimate costsDetermine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower neededKeep track of inventory, tools and equipmentEnsure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedulePrepare reports regarding job statusResolve any problems that may ariseEnsure compliance with safety regulations and building codesEvaluate risksTrain and mentor construction workers and construction laborers depending on the size of the projectCollaborate with subcontractors, engineers, architects and key team members of the project teamNegotiate with external vendors on contract agreementsObtain the appropriate permits and licenses from authorities for construction sitesPlan construction operationsEnsure all deadlines are metHire contractors and staff including construction laborersManage manpower needsDelegate responsibilitiesAllocate and manage resources to ensure that they are available when they are needed throughout the construction projectsKeep all stakeholders aware of the progress on projects and prepare progress reports regularlyHandle any environmental or local community issues that may come up during a projectConduct site checks to monitor progress and quality standards

Education and Experience

BSc/BA degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or another related fieldPMP or an equivalent certification would be considered an assetExtensive previous work experience managing budgets for construction projectsExcellent knowledge of construction materials and equipmentHighly organizedPrevious experience in a leadership role with strong and proven leadership skillsKnowledge of MS Office SuitePrevious work experience in construction management or another similar roleUnderstanding of construction management processesAble to plan aheadFamiliar with construction and project management software programsExcellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards and human resourcesConflict resolution and conflict management experienceExcellent time management abilityAble to multitask with a strong understanding of core manager dutiesExcellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation skills
