Construction Controller

• Our client is a leading construction company specializing in large commercial projects in the Trevose, PA area.
• They are seeking a hands-on controller for a newly created role due to growth!
• Job Responsibilities of the successful construction controller will include:General Accounting:Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes in compliance with GAAP standards.
• Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:Collaborate with project managers and executives to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysis and recommendations for cost-saving opportunities.
• Construction Accounting:Manage job costing activities, including tracking labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Calculate and report percentage of completion for ongoing projects, ensuring accurate revenue recognition.
• Analyze budget-to-actual costs for construction projects and identify areas for cost control and profitability improvement.
• Process and System Improvements:Identify areas for process optimization and system enhancements to streamline accounting and financial operations.
• Implement best practices for data integrity, workflow efficiency, and financial reporting accuracy.
• Lead training sessions for accounting staff on new processes, systems, and accounting standards.
• Financial Analysis and Reporting:Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making on project investments, capital expenditures, and strategic initiatives.
• Prepare and present financial reports and performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a construction accounting role. Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls. Experience with construction accounting software and QuickBooks experience and strong intermediate MS Excel skills. Track record of successfully leading month-end and year-end close processes, budgeting, and forecasting. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a hands-on attitude and willingness to work on-site as needed.
