Position Description
Performs transmission planning studies including power flow, short circuit and system stability analysis to evaluate system performance and recommend capital construction projects to ensure reliability and economic expansion of the transmission system to meet future load growth.
Essential Job Tasks
Performs power flow, short circuit, system stability and economic studies required to evaluate transmission system performance to ensure compliance with NERC Planning Standards and Santee Cooper internal Planning Criteria. Interprets results and proposes transmission system capital construction projects. Prepares BIR documentation necessary to initiate work on recommended system improvements. Provide inputs such as the needs and timing of the transmission improvement projects to form the ten-year Transmission System Plans and Capital Construction Budget. Performs or assists with the preparation of Interconnection Studies involving new interconnections with neighboring utilities, independent power producers or large load customers. Performs or assists with the resource planning scenarios studies. Prepares detailed written reports such as NERC compliance report, the annual Ten-year transmission plans report, and summaries of various internal transmission study reports. Prepares study results and recommendations for presentation to internal and external stakeholders. This may include executive management, customers, and regulatory agencies. Participates in planning activities and discussions between neighboring systems, regional and inter-regional entities as needed. Attends meetings and participates in the discussions of future system plans to meet the needs of Santee Cooper's wholesale, industrial and retail customers.
Position Requirements
This position may be eligible for hybrid (remote and in person arrangement). Will consider Engineer I, II, III or Senior Engineer
Engineer I
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited College/ University. Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred.
Compensation Information
$72,550 - $90,680 (min. - mid.)
Engineer II
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited College/ University + 2 years experience. Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred.

$80,890 - $101,110 (min. - mid.)
Engineer III
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/ university + 5 years experience. Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is required. Must have knowledge of engineering economics and the ability to communicate orally and in writing in both technical and non-technical terms. Must be able to effectively utilize the information processing system for technical and non-technical purposes. South Carolina Professional Engineer registration is highly desirable.

$90,190 - $112,730 (min. - mid.)
Senior Engineer
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/ university + 8 years experience. South Carolina Professional Engineer registration is required. Must have knowledge of engineering economics and the ability to communicate orally and in writing in both technical and non-technical terms. Must be able to effectively utilize the information processing system for technical and non-technical purposes.
Compensation Information
$100,550 - $125,680 (min. - mid.)
