Packaging Line Tech (2nd Shift)

SUMMARY

The Line Technician is responsible for accurate records and production identification, maintenance, and efficiency of the packaging of cheese. Always adheres to all USDA, GMP, and safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Will report issues/concerns to Supervisor on duty pertaining to personnel, GMP, quality and safetySetup all equipment and supplies- this includes but not limited to Delkor, metal detector, Ink Jet Printers, Labelers, Check Weigher Scales, Glue machines and any other packaging equipment deemed necessary. Responsible for generating and documentation of computer pallet ticketsWill check and verify all codes, labels, and packagingWill verify that correct cheese and vats are being packed within specificationsResponsible for reading computer print outs and following a designated scheduledWill ensure communication of product changeovers, products to run before and after changeovers, and duties based on workstation rotation to fellow employeesWill complete quality checks on film and code dates, metal detectors, product boxes, and use of tare weight and correct batch number usageResponsible for taking product samples to lab for testing purposesResponsible for all department documentationAbility to work in a safe and sanitary manner in compliance with GMP’sResponsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and neat work areaRespect Physical Demands of job listed in “Physical Demands” section below. Attendance at work is an essential job duty. Job requires regular attendance and work to be performed at the Tulare-Levin plant site. Ability to give clear and concise direction, organizational skills, ability to multi-task. All other assigned duties

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

All Packaging personnel are responsible for food safety including, but not limited to practicing GMP’s and appropriate food defense techniques.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer experience helpful

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical partsEnvironment is occasionally damp and cold. Acid and chlorine chemicals will be used and may emit fumes into the airFloors may be wet and slipperyRoom temperatures will range from 35 degrees F. to an excess of 130 degrees FThe use of safety glasses, ear plugs, dust masks, rubber gloves, rubber boots and aprons are all necessary in this area

Hourly Range: $29.63 - $ 34.91
