Job Description

Wage Grade: Production 05C $22.60-$29.47

Shift: C 3P-11P M-F

Rotate every 3rd weekend. Expect to have a day off during the week, when working the weekend rotation.****

Position Purpose

The purpose of the processing operator is to utilize SCADA in order to operate systems for the purpose making yogurt using Advance Planner PLM software, blend ingredients according to the formula, operate homogenizer and pasteurizer, inoculate fermentation tanks, complete OPM/RMCS functions, test pH, fat, & solids, break vats, and ensure that the highest level of food safety is achieved by performing thorough clean-ups every 24 hours. These tasks should be done in the most efficient way possible to ensure that there is a constant yogurt supply to the fillers.

Essential Functions

Must have complete compliance with all GMP and safety standards. This includes, but is not limited to, wearing all PPE, following all safety guidelines, and meeting OSHA safety requirements. DailyReading production and batching schedules to ensure yogurt is on time. Partner should also be able to adapt blending times to accommodate line fluctuations. Daily ~4 hrsProficiently utilizing OPM and RMCS to accurately track raw material movements and allocations. Daily ~6 hrsUsing the Advanced Planner software to make yogurt blends and to re-standardize if blend batch composition is not within specification. Daily ~3 hrsStaging dry ingredients for each blend onto pallets/ carts and moving these into position for easy addition will be required. Daily >4 hrsBlending batches using formulas provided by software to achieve customer specifications. This should be done quickly, according to SOP to ensure that there is a consistent supply of product to the fillers. Daily >6 hrsSamples will be taken after each batch is mixed to ensure the correct composition is present. Samples will also be used to check pH after batches have been inoculated to determine the appropriate time to break the tank. Daily ~4 hrsOperating the homogenizer and pasteurizer according to SOP is required after each pre-mix to prepare the mix for inoculation. Accurate and meticulous record keeping of all pasteurization charts is required. Daily ~5 hrsAdding culture to the fermentation tank according to SOP is necessary to complete batching and to create the characteristic yogurt texture/flavor. Daily ~2 hrsPerforming CIP and COP functions on all applicable equipment is required to maintain a sanitary Grade A facility and to ensure the uninhibited growth of yogurt starter culture. Daily 8 hrsKeeping the entire department audit ready. Free time should be used to perform housekeeping tasks. Daily 8 hrsPerform all PMs on all equipment associated with the processing area. Weekly 8 hrs

Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position. Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations. Be able to identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper production operation. Demonstrate identity of product and, record accurate data on production reports.

Non-Essential Functions

Continuously work to improve line productivity, reduce raw material waste, and increase product quality.

Work to improve unsafe and unsanitary conditions throughout the plant.

Ability to work overtime (OT) and/or weekends as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Partner must be hardworking and self motivated (minimum of Successful performance rating for Productivity on Partner Assessment), be dependable (less than 3% absenteeism), and be results oriented and adaptable (minimum of Successful performance rating for Process Excellence on Partner Assessment). The partner must also develop a complete understanding of all equipment under their supervision and the ability to remain organized (minimum of Successful performance rating for Productivity on Partner Assessment), have excellent communications skills (minimum of Successful performance rating for Teamwork on Partner Assessment), and have general computer skills. Partners will need to be proficient at maneuvering forklifts in close areas.

Physical Demands Analysis

Partner must have the ability to stand for a full 8 hours and will need to be able to walk for up to 6 hours. Partners in this position will frequently be required to lift 50# bags of dry ingredients onto a pallet and from pallets up to a counter for addition into the pre-mixes. Partner will also need to be able to drive a forklift.
