Senior Software Engineer — Developer Experience

As a Software Engineer on the Infrastructure and Developer Experience team, you'll accelerate the Snorkel AI team and our customers by improving our developer platform, build and release toolchains, and CI across the stack. You’ll work closely with other engineers, researchers, and product management to align on the highest leverage improvements for developer velocity, test infrastructure, and more. You will help streamline workflows, enhance collaboration, and empower software engineers at Snorkel to reach new heights of productivity and creativity.

Main Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain build and release toolchains at SnorkelLead the design and architecture of developer tools and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performanceDevelop high-quality software solutions to improve developer workflows, including build systems, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and development environmentsResearch, evaluate, and integrate third-party tools and services to enhance our developer environment and streamline development processesCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation for developer tools, processes, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team membersParticipate in on-call responsibilities in rotation with the engineering teamWork a hybrid schedule with one day per week in our Redwood City HQ, two additional days in a regional office (SF or Redwood City HQ), and work remotely with "No Meeting" Tuesdays and Thursdays

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field4+ years of professional software engineering experience, specializing in developer environment, developer experience, or related areasFamiliarity with build and release chain mechanics (e.g. bazel)Practical experience with Docker containerization and clustering (Kubernetes/EKS/GKE)Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, automated testing, and CI/CDProficiency in automation, scripting languages, and infrastructure-as-code toolsStrong communication and coding skillsProactive and positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of professional software engineering experience, specializing in developer environment, developer experience, and developer velocityStrong development and debugging skills in PythonExperience building and maintaining package management tools like a pypi mirror or artifactoryFamiliar with common security best practices, architecture design and implementationExperience building developer environments, infrastructure, CI/CD, tooling in an enterprise setting
