About Our Team

As part of the larger People Analytics team, the Research & Analytics team is composed of statisticians, I/O psychologists, data analysts and data scientists who are focused on providing actionable insights and develop AI models to improve the experience of Walmart's associates.

At Walmart, we are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join our team. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in our People Analytics department, utilizing your expertise in building causal inference machine learning models to drive data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze large datasets and extract valuable insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Center of Excellence (COE) partners across our Global People function to identify business problems and develop analytical plans to address them.
• Conduct rigorous statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to uncover patterns and trends in data.
• Apply Bayesian inference techniques to enhance the accuracy and reliability of predictive models.
• Utilize your strong problem-solving skills to scope problems and identify quick wins for our customers.
• Evaluate programs and quantify the return on investment (ROI) to drive data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate primarily with the Global People centers of excellence and support our People partners in the business.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist, such as in retail or e-commerce. Strong proficiency in building and productionizing and maintaining causal inference machine learning models. Familiarity with Bayesian inference is a strong plus. Experience using Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) for causal modeling to avoid common pitfalls in causal inference, such as confounding variables and reverse causality. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.Experience with SQL and handling very large datasetsExperience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. People Analytics experience a plus but not required
