The Boeing Company is seeking motivated and talented Mid-level or Senior Software Engineers to join Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) in Huntsville, AL.

Our team of highly-motivated, customer-focused engineers partner with BDS programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the process for developing, controlling, and verifying software products is planned and complied with, and effectively improving the quality of our software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes combined with a passion for advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with Agile and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9100 / AS9115) is strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success.

This position may require up to 10% travel.

Position Responsibilities

Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to and deliveryCoordinates support across SQEs supporting a program, as necessary, to ensure SQE commitments are metPerforms process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standardsSupports program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting informationVerifies that software testing is done to meet software requirementsPerforms final reconciliation of software data productsConducts root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect activitiesTeams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performanceActs as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvementSupports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry3+ years work related experience with Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)1+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)Experienced with products developed using Agile software development practices

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience3+ years of software quality engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirementsExperience with DevSecOps and associated tools

Typical Education/Experience

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $89,250 - $120,750

Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $107,100 - 144,900
